Where things stand

Dublin hosts Europe's second-largest data center cluster — already 22% of national electricity, projected to hit 31% by 2034. In December 2025 the CRU ended a de facto Dublin moratorium with a new policy requiring new data centers to bring their own dispatchable generation and source 80% of demand from new Irish renewables within six years. Ireland is also among the EU's most advanced AI Act implementers, standing up a statutory National AI Office by August 2026.
