Japan AI and Data-Center Policy

The atlas records 10 data-center facilities in Japan, and the 10 that report capacity total about 1,516 MW.

Where things stand

Japan has taken an innovation-first approach: METI's voluntary AI guidelines rather than binding rules. In parallel, the FSA and METI are jointly reviewing how data centers integrate with the grid as part of the GX (Green Transformation) initiative.
